Mervin Kenneth Farwell

1957 ~ 2024

Mervin Kenneth Farwell, much loved son and cherished brother passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Mervin, the fifth son in a family of six boys, was born on September 17, 1957. He grew up on the family farm in Coronation, Alberta. He shared farm chores and bus rides with his brothers to school on the bus driven by his Dad and played ball and hockey in his community. This close family network of working and playing together led the way for him to become a respected and integral part of the Coronation community. As a town employee and later Town Foreman, he was involved in the improvement of the Town replacing street signs, reconstruction of parking lots, improvement of ball diamonds and swimming pools, planting trees and repairing sidewalks. He loved family and reunions, his pets, dogs, cats, collecting tractors whether life-size or miniatures, VHS movies, helping with harvest and camping with his many good friends.

He will be missed beyond words.

Mervin is survived by his mother Josephine; brothers Leonard (Cecilia), James (Cindy) and Glen; nephews Jamie (Jessica), Robert (Melissa), Ryan (Laura) and Matthew (Jessica); niece Mary-Jo (Kyle) and nine great nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his father Vincent, brothers Larry and Kenny, and sister-in-law Donna.

The family would like to thank the Coronation Fire Department for their quick response; the Coronation and Chestermere RCMP who had the difficult task of delivering the news; the Parkview Funeral Chapels for their compassion and care at this very difficult time; and family and friends, you have been our rock. Thank you. Mervin had so many friends. A special thank you to all those who were a part of Mervin’s life.
