Obituary of David Severyn

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dave was born in Willingdon, Alberta on April 17, 1943. Raised on the family homestead north of Hairy Hill by his parents, William and Verousa Severyn, and was the second youngest of seven children two sisters Shirley and Elsie and four brothers: Lawrance, Ernest, Trifon and Walter.

Dave attended school in Hairy Hill and later in Edmonton, which is where he met his first wife, Karen. They married young and had five children: Lori, Barb, Michael, Bruce, and Mark. Unfortunately, Karen died young in 1978. Making his living in the oil patch in the north, he eventually left Swan Hills and landed in Coronation around 1979. Coronation is where he would meet his second wife, Joan, and married in the mid-80s, later losing Joan in 2015.

Dave loved and lived life to the maximum. He loved fast cars, big Harleys, speed boats, and could fix or build almost any mechanical object on the planet. He built many sawmills and was, of course, a Lumberjack. He loved making music and could play any instrument and spoke twelve languages. Above all Dave was a people-loving, social man, and was well-known for his generosity to anyone, and his love for his family.

Dave is survived by his children: Lori (Stephen) Schwenk, Barb (Martin) Hunt, Michael Severin, Bruce Severin, and Mark (Jeannie) Severin; fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers Ernest Severyn and Walter (Carol) Severin; sister Shirley (Chrapko) Severyn; as well as numerous other relatives and many dear friends.

He was predeceased by brothers Lawrance Severyn and Trifon Severyn; sister Elsie (Jim) Burke; wives Karen (McNallie) Severyn and Joan (Lienweber) Severin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
