Loretta Agnes Anne Gratton (nee Hayes)

October 25, 1949 – October 2, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce that Loretta went home to be with her Lord Jesus on October 2, 2026 at the age of 76 after a very lengthy and valiant battle with illness. Loretta was the youngest of 12 children.

Loretta was born October 25, 1949 in Emo, Rainy River District, Ontario, and was raised in numerous places. In the spring of 1969, Loretta met Garry James Gratton. From the first day they met, they have never been apart. They married on December 27, 1969. Loretta and Garry became the very best of friends, doing everything together, being loving partners and mutual confidants. They worked together in Christian Ministry for years, having had no children. Loretta and Garry were deeply dedicated to each other, to loving others and to loving Christ Jesus.

Loretta’s love of life was infectious. She loved being a wife, cooking, housekeeping, and enjoying her home. She had over 300 cookbooks, which she read out of some almost every day. She learned to cook Korean, French and Italian food, creating and tweaking recipes. Loretta loved cooking for others when afforded the opportunity. She believed in doing everything with care and excellence and her humour was instant and fun.

Loretta is very deeply missed by husband Garry, however, happy because “-God will wipe away every tear from their [her] eyes; there will be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelations 21:4

“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:8.
