Obituary

Caroline Rose Knorr (nee Kloberdanz)

July 7, 1946 – October 3, 2026

Caroline Rose Knorr was born July 7, 1946 in Provost, Alberta to Clementine and Annie Kloberdanz.

She grew up on the family farm near Bodo, Alberta and was one of eight children.  She attended Kilo school in the country before completing her Grade 11 in Provost.  She enjoyed her years on the farm and working hard beside her siblings: Gordon, Marlene, Albert, Elsie, Anne, Linda and Larry.  Their family home was always full of family, friends and music.  Her early jobs included working at the Provost hospital, being a nanny and seamstress work.  She met her husband John at her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary celebration when he accompanied his parents to the party in 1963.  They were married June 13, 1966 and together they built their farming operation at Castor, Alberta.

They welcomed their son Kelly, June 20, 1968, daughter Rhonda, September 27, 1969 and daughter Sherry, September 18, 1972.  While she was raising her family, Carol worked side by side with John.  She later took a job at the Paintearth Lodge until she retired in later years.

She was a very capable and talented lady when it came to cooking, baking, sewing and gardening.  It was always amazing how quickly she could put together a meal to feed the masses whenever they would show up.  Whether it was relatives, hunters or neighbourhood friends, the door was always open.  The same can be said if you needed a Halloween costume, skating costume, cowboy shirt, a patch on your jeans or a dress for a special occasion.  You would hear the whirr of her sewing machine.  She was extremely proud of sewing both her daughter’s graduation dresses and Sherry’s wedding dress.  Her children feel she was a wealth of knowledge because she could answer any question about life or schoolwork.

She was small but mighty.  She never had a problem keeping us kids in line and could easily keep John in line too.  John and Carol enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and this brought out some fierce competition between them.

Carol took the utmost special pride in her grandchildren: Colton, Sawyer, Carson, Jessica, Trent, Chance and Kayla.  Carol never passed up the opportunity to swaddle them as babies, babysit or go to a sporting event.  In her later years even her mobility and limited vision didn’t stop her from going to hockey games and cheering them on.

Every gathering always ended with a hug from Big Grandma K and she would tell them, “I love you dear, be good.”  She was a wonderful lady with a big heart that will be missed by many.

Carol will be forever loved and missed by her family, children Kelly ( Rhonda) of Czar, AB, Rhonda (Blake) Boizard of Castor, AB, Sherry (Ron) Weeks of Fleet, AB; grandchildren: Colton (Jessica), Sawyer, Jessica, Carson, Trent, Chance and Kayla; sister Elsie Wotcshell of Bodo, AB, sister Linda (Melfort) Weinmeyer of Weyburn SK.; brother in law Gerald Dyck of Calgary, AB, other family and many dear friends. Carol was predeceased by her parents Clem and Annie Kloberdanz, siblings: Marlene Meir, Gordon Kloberdanz, Albert Kloberdanz, Larry Kloberdanz, Anne Dyck and husband John Knorr.
