Music by The Piano Brothers

Elaine passed away at the Stettler Hospital on August 23, 2019 at the age of 81 years.
Elaine grew up in Botha and attended Botha School grades 1-12.  In 1956 she married Henry Hennel and they made their home on the farm south of Stettler.
Elaine taught many students piano lessons. She planned Christmas and spring concerts at Linda Hall.  Besides the Linda Hall Community, she shared her musical talents with the Stettler Community – composing songs honouring Stettler, playing for the Remembrance Day services and playing at Senior Lodges with the Happy Gang Choir, as well as numerous funerals.  Elaine was part of a group called “The Band” which eventually became "The Treble Makers,” this popular group entertained throughout Alberta and eventually recorded records.  She also played with a band called “The Three Amigos” when she lived in Paragon.
Elaine belonged to the Royal Purple for sixty years and was installed as the Supreme Honoured Royal Lady of Canada (National President).  In this role she visited Lodges throughout Canada.
The church was important to Elaine and she was involved with the choir and was director at the United Church Bar Harbour Camp for over twenty years.
Elaine was an amazing musician who loved people.  Her music touched so many, she made this world a better place.
Elaine is survived by her loving family: husband of 63 years in December, Henry Hennel of Stettler; son Marty (Carol) Hennel of Calgary; daughter Shelley Jones (Raymond Skelton) of Stettler; very dear four-legged companion Lolli; honorary grandchildren Nikki Hilker (Matt) and Kent (Heidi) Hennel; grandchildren: Misty (Chris) Ventnor, Shaye Skelton and Terrance Jones,
great grandchildren: Liam Bonnett, Braxton Ventnor and Blake Ventnor; sister Helen (Jim) Dunk of Red Deer; brother Dave Kenney of Prince Albert, SK; sisters in law: Sylvia (John) Walters, Marion (Glen) Collin and Joan Hennel; many very special nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews; other family members and many dear friends; and all the Clubs and Organizations that Elaine was a large part of throughout her life.  Elaine was predeceased by her parents Roy and Edna Kenney; infant daughter Beth; son in law Murray Jones; sister in law Judy Kenney; brothers in law: Harvey, Norman and Raymond; granddaughter Alisha Hennel, nephew Cameron Collin and great niece Nicole Raho.
A funeral service for Elaine Hennel was held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Stettler United Church with Jan Richardson officiating.  Elaine was laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery, Stettler.  Donations in memory of Elaine are gratefully accepted to a charity of the donor’s choice

Elaine was one of our first friends when my sister, Margaret, and I started high school in Botha. We took piano lessons from her mother. Prior to that, all three of us attended Bar Harbor Camp. Many years later, when my own daughter, also named Elaine, went to the same camp, Elaine Hennel was her favorite leader. She agreed to attend a second year, only if "Big Elaine" was there. With her joyous personality and her music, Elaine Hennel brought joy to everyone she met.

To the Hennel family, our most sincere condolences. Elaine was a bright spot in our lives. Ever patient and kind in her manner, she was more than a music teacher to us. In her company we were safe to be ourselves and under her loving guidance and mentoring we learned about so much more than notes and scales.

Thanks for sharing your mom with us. Even though it was for such a short time we thoroughly enjoyed having her in our facility. She shared her musical talent right up to her last days with the other residents and our staff.

You were all very good to her and she loved to tell stories about her family.

She will be missed
