Elizabeth Irene (Betty) Spencer was born on June 9, 1942 to Frank (Pete) and Evella Spencer in St. Catharines, Ontario.  She was the oldest of six children, three girls and three boys.  She grew up in Consort, Alberta where she attended school and then worked in the telephone office.  On July 2, 1961 she married Frank Hadwin, they have three daughters, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Frank and Betty lived in a number of communities over the years and wherever they went, Betty made lasting friends.  She had a wonderful laugh and was a great support to her family.  She wore many hats…mentor, counselor, veterinarian, nurse, as well as wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma.
Betty loved cross-stitch, crafts, reading, animals (especially cats), Elvis, science fiction movies, nature and collecting things. She loved knowledge and had a passion to learn about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.
Betty is survived by her loving family: husband Frank Hadwin of Botha; daughters: Janet Doyle (Dale Johnson) of Drayton Valley, Mary (Aaron) Ganser of Provost and Margaret Hadwin of Forestburg; beloved grandchildren: Shane Por, Chris Por, Dallas Doyle, Kaitlyn Ganser, Justin Ganser, Christyn Hadwin, Alyssa Blondin and Jenna Hadwin; great grandchildren: Logan Por, Lucas Por, Rick Por, Naomie Por and Jace Hadwin; sisters Phyllis (Robin) Read and Lois (Bob) Specht;  brothers: John (Rita) Spencer, George (Lori) Spencer and Jim (Marietta) Spencer; all of the Hadwin family; other family members and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents Pete and Evella Spencer and her grandmother Irene Jupp.
